Ingredients
6 hoagie rolls
2 tablespoons avocado oil (or any oil of your choice)
1 lb ground beef
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 teaspoons Montreal Steak Spice (or any steak seasoning of your preference)
1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1¼ cup cream of mushroom soup (you can use a 10.5 oz store-bought can or make it from scratch)
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
Salt and pepper, to taste
1–2 cups cheddar cheese, grated
Instructions
- Preheat the skillet: Heat 2 tablespoons of avocado oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add 1 lb of ground beef and the finely chopped onion. Cook for about 7-10 minutes, breaking up the beef with a spatula, until the meat is browned and the onion is soft.
- Season the beef: Sprinkle in 2 teaspoons of Montreal Steak Spice (or your preferred steak seasoning) while cooking the beef. This adds a robust flavor to the filling.
- Add vegetables: Next, add the finely chopped green bell pepper and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for another 3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are softened and fragrant.
- Incorporate the sauce: Pour in 1¼ cups of cream of mushroom soup and 2 teaspoons of Worcestershire sauce. Stir everything together, making sure the beef and vegetables are well-coated with the creamy sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Simmer the mixture: Let the beef mixture simmer for about 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
- Add cheese: Turn off the heat and stir in 1½ cups of grated cheddar cheese until it melts into the beef mixture, creating a cheesy, gooey filling.
- Assemble the sandwiches: Spoon the cheesy beef mixture onto hoagie rolls, dividing it evenly among the 6 rolls. Serve the sandwiches warm, and enjoy them with a side of fries, a salad, or even a warm bowl of soup for the ultimate comfort meal.
